Dhoni´s Mahi Racing Team confident of winning in the season opener at Philips Island

Mahindra Singh Dhoni´s World Supersport Team Mahi Racing India is confident of a winning performance in the first race of the season at Philips Island in Australia this weekend. 

After a good performance by reigning WSS champion Kenan Sofuoglu in both the sessions of the final test, the team felt boosted to start the season with a winning note. Sofuoglu topped the morning session and finished the day just 0.181 seconds off Sam Lowes of Yakhnich Motorsport Yamaha. Team´s second rider Fabien Foret was third fastest for most of the session until facing a mechanical failure which dropped him to end the day with a 4th fastest time.

Mahi Racing Team India signed up multiple WSS Champion Kenan Sofuoglu in December and is also the official Kawasaki works team.

Speaking after the testing session, Chairman and Managing Director of the team, Arun Pandey, said, "We are extremely happy with the way we performed in the first official Test. This is our first full year in the competition but our aim is to present a formidable challenge to the established teams right from the beginning. I also feel we have achieved the first goal during testing. Now hopefully our riders will take the same form into the competition this weekend."

The 2013 season will start in Phiilip Island, Australia on 24th February while the scheduled 2nd round in India is postponed to November as the final round.
